What to expect at Tres Passos Gesturi 2026
On Saturday 3 October 2026 Gesturi ends its day of celebration at the foot of the Giara with Tres Passos: accordion, guitar and Sardinian dances in Piazza Santa Teresa d’Avila from 10 pm. Before that, local wines at Jara & Wine and classical music in old courtyard houses.
Tres Passos Gesturi 2026 Programme
The concert by Tres Passos, a quartet playing Sardinian traditional music, closes a long evening in the old town of Gesturi. On Saturday 3 October the village hosts the third edition of Jara & Wine, organised by the municipality with the Pro Loco of Gesturi, FISAR Medio Campidano and the Comitato Leva 1976 de Sa Festa Nosta, together with the eleventh edition of Cortes in Classics, the series that brings classical music into the old courtyard houses.
From 6 pm: Jara & Wine
From 6 pm the streets of the old town fill with stalls and wineries: the FISAR Medio Campidano sommeliers guide the tasting of local wines, while food exhibitors, refreshment points and local producers offer their goods. The Pro Loco of Gesturi serves traditional dishes and street food, and roaming musicians entertain visitors throughout the evening.
From 6:30 pm: Cortes in Classics
Under the artistic direction of Maurizio Melis, the free roaming concerts of Cortes in Classics open three of the village’s courtyards. At 6:30 pm harpist Anna Pisu plays at the Ledda-Mura family house, the Taverna del Conte, Via Fra Nicola 20; at 7 pm classical guitarist Daniele Baire at the Zedda family house, Via Umberto 6; at 7:30 pm flautist Daniele Pasini and pianist Luca Cogoni close the series at the former Casa Marica, now home to the Pro Loco, Via Fra Nicola 45.
10 pm: folk night with Tres Passos
At 10 pm the party moves to the square of the church of Santa Teresa d’Avila for the folk night with Tres Passos: accordion, guitar and voices for a repertoire of Sardinian traditional songs and dances, to listen to or to dance in a circle in the square. A DJ set follows late into the night.

History and Traditions
The name Tres Passos recalls one of the foundations of Sardinian dance music: the passu ’e tres, the three-step pattern behind many of the island’s circle dances. The diatonic accordion and the guitar, the instruments featured on the poster, have accompanied village festivals for over a century: the accordion spread across Sardinia between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, joining and partly replacing the launeddas, while the guitar accompanies song and dance especially in the Campidano and Logudoro. A folk night in the square, with people joining hands in front of the church, is still the simplest way to experience this tradition.
Gesturi, Gèsturi in Sardinian, lies at the foot of the Giara, the basalt plateau that also gives Jara & Wine its name. Up there live the famous wild horses, among cork oaks, holm oaks and the paulis, seasonal ponds that fill with water in winter; on the edge of the plateau stands the Bruncu Madugui nuraghe, among the oldest in Sardinia. The village overlooks the Marmilla, a land of wheat and vineyards, a few kilometres from Barumini and its UNESCO-listed Su Nuraxi.
In the old town stands the parish church of Santa Teresa d’Avila, in front of which the folk night takes place, surrounded by the old courtyard houses that host the Cortes in Classics concerts. Gesturi is also the birthplace of Blessed Nicola da Gesturi, the Capuchin friar Giovanni Medda (1882–1958), who spent decades collecting alms in the streets of Cagliari and was beatified by John Paul II in 1999: his birthplace is still a pilgrimage site. The October evening thus brings together the many souls of the village: traditional music, wine culture and the hospitality of its courtyards.
